(Berrett-Koehler) Contrary to popular belief, the bad guys don’t always finish first, or so the authors of this book believe. They argue that in order for corporations to be successful in the future, they must show that they care about people and the planet. Using the Good Company Index to rank Fortune 100 companies based on customer care, people management, and stewardship, the authors found that high-scoring companies outperformed peers in the stock market. Bassi is CEO of McBassi & Company, a consulting firm, and chair of Bassi Investments. Frauenheim is senior editor at Workforce Management magazine. McMurrer is the chief analyst at McBassi & Company and chief research officer at Bassi Investments.
