Gravitas and Ammunition

The two-song single by The Blacks, a Franciso-based band, features JDK Blacker (aka Justin Kerr ’00) on tambourine, Gavin Black on drums, and Luisa Black on guitar and lead vocals. The single is available through www.rcrdlbl.com. The band’s first album, Nom de Guerre, was released in 2008 through Tricycle Records (tricycle-records.com). In a review of Nom de Guerre, NPR.org wrote: “The Black’s ragged, gutsy sound … [capitalizes] on the perennial market for raw rock.” The CD “offers a minimalist approach fueled by equal doses of energy and verve. … The trio sticks to short, jagged, punkish tunes.”
