(Andrew Mowbray Publishers, Inc. ) In this illustrated guide, Niles shows how the first affordable double barrel shotguns were adapted in 1875 and replaced the expensive hammer and hammerless guns. For the first time, pricing was primarily based on careful study of the market rather than on factory cost, and the success of “affordables” in the United States was due to the intelligent balancing of these new considerations. Niles has been interested in firearms since he was eight years old, and has a collection of about 800 double barrel shotguns.
