Hit the Drum: An Insider’s Account of How the Charter School Idea Became a National Movement (BookBaby) traces the emergence of the charter school movement starting with the passage of the first charter-school law in Minnesota in 1991. Including the stories of dozens of key individuals, the book explains the idea behind the movement and its rapid spread across the country. Sarah Tantillo ’87 founded the New Jersey Charter Schools Resource Center and the New Jersey Charter Public Schools Association.
