(Cambridge University Press) In this book, Gregg argues that human rights are locally developed, created by average people. Viewing them on this basis, instead of on metaphysical or theological assumptions, makes it more likely that all people will come to embrace them. The book contains historical and empirical examples, as well as practical applications of human rights to different circumstances. Gregg is an associate professor in the department of government at the University of Texas at Austin.
