In this children’s book, Johnson tells the story of two young girls — one living in the American South and the other in Africa — who dream about the life and experiences of their relatives across the sea. Reflecting on the beauty of interconnectedness of the Black diaspora, Indigo Dreaming (HarperCollins) reveals the ways in which two individuals can be intricately linked by culture and history, despite living so many miles apart. Told from the perspective of young minds, the book captures childlike curiosity and wonder throughout its pages.
