Inessential Colors: Architecture on Paper in Early Modern Europe

  In his latest book, Inessential Colors: Architecture on Paper in Early Modern Europe (Princeton University Press), Baudez analyzes the use of color in architectural drawings. Featuring a variety of previously unpublished drawings, Baudez offers an interesting overview and comparison of pieces from the Italian Renaissance, which tended to be devoid of color, to the 17th century when the use of color flourished.
