Jewish Studies at the Crossroads of Anthropology and History: Authority, Diaspora, Tradition

(University of Pennsylvania Press) Jewish experience is re-explored in this collection of essays, which give consideration to non-written expressions of ritual performance, artistic production, spoken narrative, and social experiences. The authors examine authority, diaspora, and tradition in respect to the study of Jews and Judaism and provoke inquiry into theoretical problems in other areas. Boustan is an associate professor of history and Near Eastern languages and cultures at UCLA.
