J.M. Coetzee and Ethics: Philosophical Perspectives on Literature

(Columbia University Press) In this collection, scholars investigate the work of J.M. Coetzee, the 2003 Nobel Prize-winner in Literature. The essays explore Coetzee’s approach to ethical theory and philosophy, while also focusing on several other themes throughout his work, paying particular attention to his representation of the human-animal relationship. Leist is a professor of philosophy at the Ethics-Center of the University of Zurich and Singer is Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University.
