Based on documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act and interviews with the defector’s sons and associates, this biography explores the life of Soviet defector Victor Kravchenko, who emigrated to America in 1943, and his role in the Cold War. Kern also wrote A Death in Washington: Walter G. Krivitsky and the Stalin Terror.
