Latinamericanism after 9/11

(Duke University Press) In this book, Beverley looks at Latinamericanist cultural theory and its relation to new ways of political mobilization in Latin America. He argues that after 9/11 the importance of the United States in Latin America began to fade and new leftist governments emerged, shifting Latinamericanist thinking in major ways. Beverely then proposes new ways to better understand this reconfigured landscape. Beverley is Distinguished Professor of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh.
