Published Feb. 1, 2017

In Law’s Political Foundations (Edward Elgar Publishing), John Haley ’64 looks at the development of two basic systems of public and private law. He traces their development and historical transformations in China, Japan, Western Europe, and Hispanic America, ultimately making the argument that law is a product, rather than a constitutive element, of political systems. Haley is professor of law emeritus at Washington University School of Law. He is also the author of seven other books.
