The Life and Times of Jim Henry Shore

Inspired by stories of his great-grandfather Jim Henry Shore, Lawrence Davis ’60 began collecting material for this novel more than 30 years ago. The Life and Times of Jim Henry Shore (Lystra Books) is the story of a young man conscripted into the Confederate Army despite the teachings of his Quaker faith. He becomes a prisoner of war, returns to a desolate hometown, and travels to California to make his fortune.
