The Limits of Constitutional Democracy
(Princeton University Press) This book looks at the difficulties of constitutional democracy, and examines fundamental questions, such as: What is a constitutional democracy? When does it succeed or fail? Can constitutional democracies conduct war? The themes that the book explores include: the issues of constitutional failure, the problem of emergency power, and whether constitutions can adapt to new challenges brought on by globalization. Macedo is the Laurence S. Rockefeller Professor of Politics at Princeton.
