The Little Book of String Theory

(Princeton University Press) In this guide to string theory, Gubser begins by explaining Einstein’s equation E = mc2 , quantum mechanics, and black holes. He proceeds to give readers a crash course in string theory, covering strings, branes, string dualities, extra dimensions, curved spacetime, quantum fluctuations, symmetry, and supersymmetry. Using analogies for nonscientists and employing a minimum of mathematics, he introduces readers to the controversial area of physics that has often been called the “theory of everything.” Gubser is professor of physics at Princeton University.
