Living Emergency: Israel’s Permit Regime in the Occupied West Bank
Berda *14, who worked as a civil-rights attorney in the West Bank, provides a first-hand account of Israel’s permit regime. Using an array of sources from Palestinian laborers to government officials, Berda builds a framework to analyze the complexity of this regime. She also addresses the connection between Israeli officials’ dealings with problems such as terrorism and population regulation and international security policies.
