Leor Halevi ’94 tells the story of a cultural exchange under European rule during the Age of Rida when Muslims were exposed to new technology such as tailored pants, telegraphs, and even lottery tickets. Halevi discusses the influence Syrian Interpreter Rashid Rida had on the changes in Islamic traditions that were pushed by religious entanglements with new technology.
