Multiannual Macroeconomic Programming Techniques for Developing Economies

(World Scientific Publishing Company) In this book, the author describes a range of techniques that analysts can use to project the evolution of a nation’s national, external, fiscal, monetary, and external-debt accounts. These macroeconomic programming exercises aim to help policy-makers determine whether a program of current and capital government expenditures — one intended to address national-development and poverty-reduction imperatives — will be financially feasible. The author has implemented versions of the programming exercises described here in several developing economies. Beckerman is an independent consultant who worked formerly at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the World Bank.
