The Multitasking Mind
(Oxford University Press) Multitasking occurs in all aspects of life, be it multitasking at work or at home. But how do we switch from one task to another? How can we take advantage of multitasking and mitigate some of its negative effects? To answer those questions, the authors present the theory of threaded cognition, which aims to explain the multitasking mind, and includes a set of practical guidelines for designers of multitasking systems. Salvucci is an associate professor in computer science at Drexel University.
