A New China: An Intermediate Reader of Modern Chinese

(Princeton University Press) This revised edition of what has become a standard textbook for intermediate Chinese language learning reflects China’s dramatic developments in the last decades. The first half of the book follows the life of an exchange student experiencing Beijing, including new lessons in daily life, while later lessons discuss recent social and political issues in China. Chou is a professor of East Asian studies at Princeton University and director of the Chinese language and Princeton in Beijing programs. Chiang is a senior lecturer in Chinese at Princeton. Eagar is a former lecturer in Chinese at Princeton.
