Number One Chinese Restaurant (Henry Holt) is a novel about the lives of the waiters and the waitresses at the Beijing Duck House. When the owner decides he wants to move on from the restaurant, his family, friends, and employees struggle to keep things together as tensions that have been buried for years rise to the surface.
