The Occupation of Havana (UNC Press) uses the story of the six-week British siege and subsequent capture of Spanish-held Havana in 1762 to analyze Spanish and British power dynamics in the late 1700s. The book also focuses on the role and welfare of slaves and freedmen during the siege as well as the impacts of British rule on slavery and equality in the region.
