Published Jan. 21, 2016

(Oxford University Press) This book is the outcome of Woertz’s three-year fellowship at Princeton. It examines the food security concerns that have played a prominent role during the Arab Spring and the controversial strategies of Gulf countries to acquire land in food-insecure countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, and Pakistan. It also tackles global issues that have surrounded the food crisis of 2008, such as climate change, biofuels, and the financialization of food markets. Woertz is senior research fellow associate at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs.
