Abe Dubinski and his family live peacefully on the canal, where he works as a lock tender ensuring the safe passage of barges carrying anthracite. In 1933, the canal company’s decision to close the canal cast uncertainty on his job and home. Things take a darker turn when a Nazi youth camp opens nearby, and Abe’s family faces violent threats. Determined to protect them, Abe takes drastic action, even at the cost of his own soul. Ninety years later, Charlie Levenson, seeking peace after his wife’s death, moves into Abe’s former home. But strange, threatening encounters make Charlie suspect his wife’s death is connected to a larger danger, one that could even threaten his granddaughter. To uncover the truth, Charlie must confront his past and stand up against hate. The Other (Level Best - Historia) challenges us to consider what we would do to protect our loved ones when the Nazis come to town.
