In Our Own Hands: Essays in Deaf History, 1780-1970
This collection of essays show the struggle of deaf people from 1780 to 1970 as they sought autonomy in their personal, religious, social, and organizational lives. Previously unexplored areas of deaf history overlap with important thematic moments in America’s past in In Our Own Hands (Gallaudet University Press). Editor Joseph Murray ’86 is an associate professor in the Department of ASL and Deaf Studies at Gallaudet University.
