A Passenger from the West

(University of New Orleans Publishing) In 1970, Nabile Farès interviewed African-American author James Baldwin about confronting the true history of black America. This interview led Farès on a journey into his own past, remembering Algeria and its war for independence. A Passenger from the West originally was published in Paris in 1971. This is the first time the work has been translated into English and this edition includes the original magazine interview with Baldwin. Thompson is a translator and an associate professor at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.
