A Place at the Altar (Princeton University Press) reexamines the role of priestesses within the public cult of ancient Rome. In order to appease various gods, priestesses, priests, slaves, and community members worked together to facilitate sacrifices and other ritual obligations. Meghan DiLuzio *11 brings new light to the role of vestigial virgins and a range of other roles offered to priestesses at the time.
