(Pantheon) This book imagines what would happen if Plato came to life in the 21st century and set out on a multi-city speaking tour. Allowing us to eavesdrop on Plato as he encounters the modern world of Fox News, MRIs, Google, and Tiger Moms, Goldstein revives the art of the Platonic dialogue and demonstrates that the questions originally posited by Plato are still relevant in our own time. Goldstein is a novelist and philosopher who has been the recipient of the MacArthur “genius” award, recognized as Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association, and elected to the Academy of Arts and Sciences.
