Prudence (Riverhead Books) is the fourth novel by David Treuer ’92, a literature and creative writing professor at the University of Southern California. In August 1942 in the midst of World War II, Frankie returns to his family’s home before he joins the fight as a bombardier, but before the homecoming can be celebrated, the search for an escaped German prisoner of war from the camp across the river explodes in an act of violence with consequences that will reverberate years in the future.
