(Harvard University Press) James Fleming and Linda McClain tackle some of the biggest civil liberties issues of today in their close examination of how the government can protect basic liberties and promote civic virtues at the same time. They argue that both same-sex marriage and reproductive rights can be protected while still protecting the right to national self-determination. Fleming is a law professor and the Frank R. Kenison Distinguished Scholar at Boston University Law School.
