(SUNY Press) This book draws together leading regional experts to provide analysis of the ways Islam is entangled with the process of democratization in authoritarian regimes. Through its comparison of how the rule of law operates in these two nations, this volume allows for a better understanding of differences with the Muslim world, and provides background for understanding the Green movement in Iran since 2009 and the Egyptian revolution of 2011. Brown is a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University.
