Nadav Samin *13 explores the importance of genealogy and tribal belonging in understanding the modern Saudi state. Through the frame of 20th-century Saudi scholar Hamad al-Jāsir’s genealogical studies, he investigates genealogy’s effect on the lives of Saudi citizens and the politics of kinship. Samin is a visiting professor of anthropology at Dartmouth College.
