An ideal resource for the curious paddler, The Science of Paddling (Welos Book Works) explores just that. Burke calls on his background in engineering and passion for paddling, to enhance the experience. Using these skills as well as research in physics and exercise physiology, Burke tackles various questions geared toward improving performance. Some of these questions include: Why do hulls float, why do they move when paddled, and what types of drag impede forward motion?
