(Stanford University Press) In this book, Sephardism is defined as a political literary metaphor. The contributors ask why Gentile and Jewish writers and cultural figures have chosen to draw upon the medieval Sephardic experience to express their concerns about dissidents and minorities in modern nations. Halevi-Wise is an associate professor in the departments of English and Jewish studies at McGill University in Montreal.
