The term Shekhinah refers to the feminine aspect of God in Judaism. Ladin draws on the term, which is the English translation of the Hebrew word for “dwelling,” in this collection of poems where she channels Shekhina’s voice to comment on the current state of the world. The poet and scholar’s collection includes 22 poems (for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet) to reflect on questions of personal and spiritual significance. Jewish thought, the divine, and femininities are among the themes Ladin explores in Shekhinah Speaks (Selva Oscura Press).
