Drawing on data about modern warfare, which is usually fought against smaller groups of insurgents who commit terrorist attacks, Small Wars, Big Data (Princeton University Press) shows how small wars can be better strategized and won with less detriment to the local population. The authors argue for approaches that include suppression of rebel activity and close analysis of the links between aid and violence.
