
Soft Corruption: How Unethical Conduct Undermines Good Government and What To Do About It
In his book Soft Corruption (Rutgers University Press), former New Jersey legislator William E. Schluter ’50 recounts his fight to expose and reform acts of “soft corruption”— perfectly legal political corruption like accepting favors from lobbyists and giving paid positions to relatives. He identifies five main forms of soft corruption and offers concrete policy suggestions to cure it, starting with New Jersey but applying to nationwide politics.
