Scattered across thousands of universities, hospitals, military bases, and various other places, chaplains are often the predominant connection to the spiritual and religious life for millions of people. However, despite their large presence at institutions, they are rarely the first mentioned when considering Christian spiritual and religious life. In Spiritual Care (Oxford University Press), Cadge seeks to shine a light on the role of chaplains in the religious lives of everyday people, and on how local communities influence the work of chaplains.
