Young Amish quilt-maker Rebecca Zook is resisting the Amish way of life, despite her love for her family and her culture. Though she is engaged to Jacob, a successful farmer, she becomes close to Englishman Gregory Pinckney through their mutual love of horses. When an insurance scam almost kills Gregory’s horse and one of Rebecca’s old boyfriends reappears, her heart is torn in many directions that test her faith. Burgess is an award-winning author of numerous plays, musicals, and teleplays, including several for children.
