During the early 1900s, in Baltimore, there was no running water in the neighborhood of Stone Hill, let alone telephones, televisions, or the internet. Through research and interviews, Hollyday tells the stories of the people in fast-developing area of Stone Hill. The port neighborhood saw two world wars, the Great Depression, and the closing of the cotton mills at the heart of the neighborhood’s economy. Stone Hill in Baltimore (self-published) is ultimately a book of stories, describing work in the mill, life in the home, and the experiences of the many characters passing through the neighborhood. Hollyday includes various interviews in addition to 92 photographs, which bring the neighborhood to life.
