The Story of Motown (Rare Bird Books), re-released in this new and revised illustrated edition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Motown Record Company, follows Berry Gordy, the man who recruited talent like Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye and produced an irresistible sound. But, while Gordy prevailed over racism and competing labels, he often did so by exploiting his own artists—eventually losing them to companies who offered more money.
