Painful moments from her days as a student activist come back to haunt Lena in Those Who Knew (Viking) when a student reminiscent of herself is killed under mysterious circumstances. Lena thinks the culprit may be Victor, now a reform-minded senator, who has violent tendencies, which Lena has experienced personally.
