(Naval Institute Press) This is a biography of Gen. Andrew J. Goodpaster *50, one of the leading soldier-scholars of his time. Goodpaster was a key figure during the Cold War, went on to serve in Vietnam, was appointed as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, restored the integrity of West Point, and was actively involved in Washington policymaking even after his retirement. Jordan served as director of research for the U.N. Institute for Training and Research and was a distinguished professor of strategy and policy at the U.S. Naval War College.
