(Wiley-Blackwell) This history connects both past and present utopian thought, from the first utopias in ancient Greece to present-day visions of cyberspace communities and paradise. It explores both Western and non-Western visions, examines the purpose of utopias and the many forms they have taken, and reveals the implicit utopian dimensions of many modern reform crusades. Segal is Bird Professor of History at the University of Maine, where he has taught since 1986.
