On War and Writing
Samuel Hynes was a pilot for the Marine Corps during World War II, and over the years he has written about that experience as well as about the history of war writing. His collection of essays, On War and Writing (University of Chicago Press) includes his personal and critical pieces about representing an unimaginable experience for those who haven’t been there.
