In this autobiographical book, Ord Elliott retraces his footsteps as a Marine Rifle Platoon Commander in Vietnam in 1967, and confronts the emotions that underlie his experience of combat. After each battle he deals with his emerging understanding of war and of the warriors, both then and now, as he goes on to reflect on that war and the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. After Vietnam, Elliott went on to build a successful career in management consulting.
