What’s Left of the Night (New Vessel Press) is an emotional, hallucinatory novel about the early life of the poet C.P. Cavafy. A young man named Constantine embarks on a tour of Europe in the twilight of the 19th century, and along the way he explores his creative and sexual desires. The journey of self-discovery is set against themes of nationalism, prejudice, and cultural change. Greek author Ersi Sotiropoulos released the novel in 2015. This translation comes from Karen Emmerich ’00.
