Where the Mountains Burn
Based on the experience of Novo’s grandfather, this novel explores Rinaldo’s experiences during World War II. Rinaldo is faced with a difficult choice once he turns 18 to either join Mussolini’s army or the partisans of the Resistenza. Where the Mountains Burn (Bordighera Press) recounts the upheaval of fascist Italy that Rinaldo witnessed and the impact of his decisions during the war on his life and that of his entire family. In this work of historical fiction, Novo writes about trauma, family, and resistance and brings the story of an Italian American to life.
