Women of the Fes: Ambiguities of Urban Life in Morocco
(University of Pennsylvania Press) Based on Newcomb’s two years of fieldwork in the city of Fes, this book provides insight into the daily lives of modern Moroccan women. The author examines the struggles women face as they challenge competing ideologies to create new forms of identity in work, family, and urban space. Newcomb is an assistant professor of anthropology at Rollins College in Florida.
