Worldly Philosopher: The Odyssey of Albert O. Hirschman

(Princeton University Press) An economist who lived through World War II and fought in the Spanish Civil War, Albert O. Hirschman certainly saw the dark side of humanity. But Adelman argues that Hirschman, who died in 2012, left a pragmatic yet hopeful and open-minded intellectual mark. Adelman is the Walter Samuel Carpenter III Professor of Spanish Civilization and Culture at Princeton.
